Chapter Text

Jensen woke up from cold.

The first thing he saw was the clock. The minute hand marked twenty minutes to midnight. He tried to remember what game was tomorrow.

MSI. It was definitely MSI. It seemed like in China, yes, for sure. He still couldn't think clearly.

They had a very, very difficult game planned. But this time they were ready. After eight losses to Faker, his current team, FlyQuest, will meet the world champions and finally, finally...

It was as if he had been hit by an icy wave.

17:31.

For so much they were cut to pieces in the first game.

In the second game, the torment dragged on a little longer.

He remembered the mockingly calm, time-wasting rants of the enemy midlaner, who, even when he was alone against a triple gank, felt as if he was the one who had sunk his fangs into their throats and they could no longer run away from the help that had come to him.

"Come on, try again. Eight, nine games, what's the difference? Kill me, isn’t it the main goal? That's a good boy. Now run."

But the arrows of Ashe, who was not banned by them, pierced him and his half-dead friends again and again.

And Senna... Apparently they considered themselves better than GenG.

Jensen wanted to return the old Faker, who was clearly enraged at some of the previous rendezvous, turning away from the Nexus he had dilapidated in order to kill the impudent brown-haired man again.

This time everything was different. T1 did not forgive any egocentrism in pre-game interviews, nor overlooked bans, nor a single mistake. Shot at point-blank range after an unsuccessful teleport. Tore Zac apart and trampled his pieces so that their best bet could not raise his head.

And all this in the cold, clean and merciless way.

With precise movements, Gumayusi took his soul with Senna. Tahm Kench grinded and spat him out despite his pathetic attempts to do something.

Azir threw him onto Viego’s sword, and what they didn’t ruin was crushed by Ornn. The horrible train has become part of the long-awaited skin of this monster in the hands of an even bigger monster. Also from Greek mythology.

There was no unnecessary cruelty in this. Vivisection took place methodically and indifferently. Their yapping at world champions and a man who has repeatedly taken almost every conceivable peak, deserved a fair flogging. Nothing was personal anymore.

He wanted to get God's attention again with his stupid tweet, which should have remained in a decade of oblivion... But how else could he make him flinch? If he was scared to death himself.

After all, as soon as they entered the field, T1 immediately turned to inhumanly strong monsters. Remembering where they could play with food, giving it to the current form of Keria, and where opponents would be destroyed quickly, as they put a bow and arrows in his hands themselves.

Why was it so cold?

The nurse, who apparently came to take his blood, wiped his arm with cotton wool and stuck a cool syringe, slowly and carefully filling it.

Did he lose consciousness after the matches?

His thoughts were confused.

Jensen decided to focus on today's game.

Keria... What a dangerous child. Gumayusi and everyone else gave him the freedom to choose toys... But the opposing team had no such right. And they put their own death into his hands.

Of course he's not the only one. Kalista destroyed them over and over again, appearing like blue doom and burning out any attempts to get closer and kill her.

Gumayusi was inevitable and the bounty for his head was so great that they sometimes ran into bullets trying to take a step in his direction.

What a terrible duet. T1 fans had no reason to think they are cute...

The orderly who approached the nurse put his hand on the latter’s shoulder and asked something quietly. The nurse shook his head and nodded at the watch. Midnight was approaching.

Jensen closed his eyes for a moment to calm down and hide his frozen hands under the blanket, but he couldn’t move them.

At the same moment, the second person who came turned to him with a soft smile and said in the voice of Gumayusi:

- Well done. I see you are holding on until the end. It will all be over soon.

Turning to the nurse, whom Jensen recognized through the darkness as Keria, Gumayusi said quietly:

- I'll go call the doctor. This will end faster than we thought.

He touched Jensen's legs and bent them at the knees. Having let go, Guma gestured him to return them to their original position. The midlaner tried, but the cold and numbness did not allow him and halfway his knees fell to the side.

Watching this, Keria wrote something down in a notebook.

Shaking his head, Gumayusi smiled at Nikolaj and turned around to leave the room.

- Wait... - Jensen called out hoarsely. - Gumayusi, wait...

Stopping at the door, the botlaner froze and looked back, glancing at him with surprise.

- What did you call me?

- Guma... Gumayusi...

Smirking, the one who had caused them so much suffering in the morning game returned to the bed and squatted down next to the frightened midlaner. Winking at Keria, he turned his interested gaze to Nikolaj.

- Who is Gumayusi? Is this a name? It's funny.

- Do you know me too? – Keria asked curiously.

- Yes... - Jensen whispered, dumbfounded. - You are Keria...

T1 support, or judging by what was happening, his double, began to quickly write something down in a notebook.

- Hmm, - Gumayusi looked carefully at Nikolaj and touching the latter’s forehead, looked back at Keria. – Seems like it has begun.

- It seems like we also get to participate. – Keria said excitedly. - I'll call the doctor.

Jensen tossed around in bed, but his almost completely numb body didn’t give him the slightest chance to do anything.

Gumayusi looked at him with curiosity.

- Who am I in your...

- Hey, stop it, - Keria called out sternly to him. - Wait, we have to start according to the protocol.

- Under what protocol? – Jensen asked worriedly.

- Calm down, - the botlaner grinned and tucked Nikolaj’s hair behind his ear. - You'll understand everything soon.

Standing up, he looked behind the nearest screen. Only now did the midlaner realize that quiet sounds were coming from there, are strangely sound like something being eaten. Nikolaj wasn't sure. Now the sounds have stopped.

- Are you finished? – Jensen heard Gumayusi’s quiet voice.

- No... - Another familiar intonation made Nikolaj press even harder into the bed. - He’s strong and doesn’t want to let go.

Gumayusi pulled back the screen. A face with blood red lips looked out from there. Having quickly licked them, the one who was the toplaner of T1, or who looked exactly the same, gave Jensen a slightly interested look.

- Are you done? - Zeus asked. - I thought you hadn’t started yet.

- Nope, - the botlaner answered excitedly. - But he knows us, maybe he knows you too.

Jensen, of course, knew one of the best players in the League well. The one who was possibly the best in the world at the last World Championship. But at this moment, he was not interested in other people's gaming abilities. He looked with horror and disbelief at the bloodless face of the man whose head laid on Zeus's lap.

- Ga... Gabriel...

Bwipo was still breathing. Looking ahead with an unseeing gaze, he didn’t react to the horror-filled exclamation of his friend and teammate.

Gumayusi and Zeus stared at Jensen in shock.

- Do you know him too? – the toplaner asked in surprise. – Are you from the gaming world too?

Jensen couldn't answer. A massive trembling shook his body and did not allow him to breathe calmly.

Someone gently touched his hand and stroked it.

- I knew it, - a calm, quiet voice was heard practically at his ear. - You just couldn’t wait for me. Shhh, calm down. Now everything will be fine.
